Sony Handycam DCR-DX41 is a flash memory based camcorder. It attracts with its small size, expandable memory slot with a inbuilt 8GB memory and 60x megazoom lens. The menu options are navigable through a touch screen. However with its lack in most shooting options the video quality is good especially when watching in a HDTV.
The $299.99 Handycam measures 2×2.4×1.3 inches and weighs around 10 ounces. The 2.7 inch LCD screen has a resolution of 123K pixels. The battery is good but not at its best proving a 2 hours video recording at high resolution. The Handycam includes a Optical image stabilization system.
The mini camcorder having the size of a soda can has the basic design with normal start and stop buttons and the zoom control options are too easy. There is a dedicated button for switching between the movie and the still photographs. Behind the flip down door at the back is the AV jack and the DC power input. The memory card slot is just below the battery cage. The USB port connection is uncovered so you will have the strain of cleaning it regularly. The memory stick remains covered and along with the USB port is present in the cavity.
